Adjusters Inc. was established in 1946 as the very first bank service recovery company in the state of Texas. The name (Adjusters) was chosen because prior to 1946 when a banker from another state needed help to contact a debtor regarding the collection or repossession of his automobile he was forced to call a bank in the local area and request a free visit during the late hours. Since all bankers wanted to be home with their family after five o'clock the next source of available repossession or repo labor was an insurance adjuster. Insurance adjusters became a large part of the network involving interstate repossession contacts. The demise of the insurance adjuster system came as the volume of work needed overwhelmed the insurance adjuster system.
Adjusters Inc was the first company that incorporated with the name Adjusters in the repossession company title. Over the following four decades hundreds of companies included the name Adjusters in their title.
Adjusters Inc. is not only the oldest repossession company in Texas but the most famous. The company was started by three finance men who factored paper. These men saw the future and understood that repossession of Houston autos was about to be a very large business. One of the factors in their decision to add repossession to their list of services in Houston was the air conditioning of autos. Houston at that time was a city of great heat, humidity and mosquitoes. Houston in 1946 was growing but the drainage of such a low area was accomplished only by large ditches called bayous. As of today the bayous still exist but sewer lines and drainage lines have lowered the humidity to a great advantage to the population of five million people. Houston repossession now involves 3000 square miles and a MSA population of seven million people in a 75 mile radius. In fact Houston is about to become the third largest city in the United States in three years.
Repossession in Houston now includes 100 other small incorporated towns and the size of the ground increases each year based on annexing by Houston Government. As long as the City of Houston is able to provide services these trends of annexing will continue. Houston repossession or repo, now exceeds 6000 cars per month and Adjusters Inc. plays a valuable role in that activity.
The current owner of Adjusters Inc. has moved with the times and not only has the most up to date computer system available but also has License Plate Technology Cameras on all repossession vehicles moving for the company. With this latest satellite image communication Adjusters Inc, has a data base of 4 million tags. Licenses plates are photographed at a rate of 250,000 per week and Adjusters is able to verify the movement of automobiles at home, at work, and on the freeway system.
The staff of Adjusters Inc includes college educated people who are trained on a yearly basis and have passed all courses in legal rights and safety. Millard Land is a traveling speaker for the industry and talks at many meetings of financial organizations across the country. He is known by thousands of professional men and women who work in every city in this country as well as Europe. The service is called the 50/50 Partnership. Any institution that has charged off a loan can partner with Adjusters and their collateral will be recovered at no charge. Adjusters bears all the expense and labor involved . The collateral is marketed after recovery and the proceeds are split. It is a perfect marriage for many lien holders as they do not wish to keep investing in investigation bills with non results.
