Recording Requirements:

Liens on motor vehicles must be recorded at the Department of Motor Vehicles where owner resides.

Recovery Requirements:

Debtor required to sign a voluntary surrender prior to lienholder taking possession or replevin judgment granted through legal action for possession of collateral.

Redemption Requirements:

Thirty (30) days.

Deficiency Requirements:

Only permitted if collateral seized through legal action and after the sale.

Special Motor Vehicle Provisions:

Certificate of Title and registration bears lien.

Documents Required to Transfer Ownership of Motor Vehicle:

Title in lienholder’s name and certification of repossession notarized.

 

Plates:

Remain with the vehicle.
